Experience
I am a Radio Broadcaster. I am also a taekwondo instructor. I hold a 5th Dan blackbelt in taekwondo and 1st dan blackbelt
in Goju karate.
I have established Lipuka Communications, and Lipuka Productions. Lipuka Communications will deal with public relations,
marketing and research, while the sister company Lipuka Productions will be involved in the film and music industry.
As a broadcaster I hold a diploma in Mass Media from the African Broadcasting Institute ( Cairo-Egypt), a certificate
on the Role of Mass Media in Development from the International Institute - Histadrut, of Israel, a certificate on Feature
Programmes from the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, a certificate on Rural Programmes from the Voice of Germany, a
certificate on Features Drammatisation from the Goethe Institute, a certificate on Radio Listernership Research from UNESCO,
a certificate on Adult Education Programme Production from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, and a certificate on
Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.
At the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, I held the positions of Assistant Head of Current Affairs and Sports, and Head
of Kiswahili Service, the largest of the KBC Services. I also won the coveted Producer of the Year Award in 1996.
In Taekwondo, I was the first Kenyan to learn and eventually open a Taekwondo club. I have trained under nine different
Korean Masters. I am currently the Instructor of Undugu Taekwondo Club, the oldest in East Africa, which I opened in 1978.
Other clubs are Nairobi Youth Center, and Genesis Joy School. I am also the Chairman of Better Life Through Taekwondo, an
initiative started in April 2007 to promote taekwondo in slums. I am chairman to Mombasa West Youth Association Technical
Committee, where I established Changamwe and Chaani taekwondo clubs, which are among the best in Coast Province of Kenya and
have provided players to the National team. I am also Technical Adviser to Uganda, Tanzania and Botswana.
I have a certificate on Olympism from the International Olympic Academy, Olympia, Greece.
I am the founder of the KENYA TAEKWONDO ASSOCIATION
I have participated in a number of major conferences. As a journalist I have covered United Nations and Africa Union
conferences, among athers. I have also served as a member of the Kenya Govermnent Committee to formulate Policy on Post Literacy
Education in Kenya. I have co-chaired an international cpnference to discuss the introduction of Genetically Modified Crops.
I hace also participated in a conference of formulate a Policy on the Film Industry in Kenya among others.
