Nairobi Youth Centre Taekwondo Club was established in 2003. The club is sponsored by Nairobi Youth Centre, a non-Governmental
Organisation. The Club offers taekwondo classes daily under Instructor Samson Lipuka.
Eastleigh, in which the club is situated is crime-prone. It has a very high population of refugees especially from the war-torn
Solami. Others oare from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda etc. Prostitution is therefore
common as is drug trafficking and gun-running.
taekwondo was thus started to enable most of the people in this area have something to do. The club has largely been successful.
It is a sister club to Undugu Taekwondo Club also under Samson Lipuka. In afew years of it's exestence, Nairobi Youth Centre
Taekwondo Club has been able to produce champions and rivals the best. Chrles Kamau is current East and Central African bantamweight
taekwondo champion. Bob Nixon is the Flyweight champion and Simon Karanja is Finweight champion.
The club also has Charity Njoki as the Ladies National Lightweigh champion and Agnes Kariuki, who at only 15 is currently
the most exciting ladies player and is the Finweight champion.
The club is still growing, and it's membership is increasing all the time. For the members and the sponsors of the club, the
