Nairobi Youth Centre Taekwondo Club was started in 2003 in Eastleigh area of Nairobi in Kenya. Eastleigh has a reputation
of having the highest incidents of crime, drug abuse, gun-running and AIDS/HIV prevalence in Nairobi. It has a high number
of refugees from Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Democratic Republic of Congo. Prostitution is a way of life.
OUR GOAL
Nairobi Youth Centre was established for the purpose of providing counselling services and rehabilitation of the youth
in Eastleigh and surroundig areas. Taekwondo is among a number of sporting activities, started by the Centre as a means of
providing the youth, most of whom are refugees with some activity instead of letting them involve themselves in unbecoming
behaviour.
